Katrina Kaif launched her own makeup brand called Kay Beauty in Mumbai. Being described as India’s first celebrity beauty brand to come out of B-town, it was enough to trend on Twitter for hours and get a mention from Bollywood stars like Salman Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Swara Bhasker and even Priyanka Chopra. And while their resounding show of support for Katrina’s venture made headlines, the beauty sphere was buzzing about the new brand and its products.


On speaking to Katrina about the inception of her makeup line, she says, “Makeup has been a huge part of my journey; right from a model, to an actor to magazine covers to countless appearances. It has always been an interest of mine and something I’ve been passion about. I’ve done a lot of my own makeup throughout the years.



With the knowledge of working with makeup artists and getting their tips, I knew it was something I wanted to do. I had a dream to create a beauty brand like this but you need a machine with the knowledge and bandwidth and product knowledge; and that’s where Nykaa came in.” Kay Beauty launched with a collection of 48 pieces. This included lip crayons, lip toppers, lip pencils, eye brow products and three different types of kajals. Basically, it is a makeup addict’s delight and looks appealing.

Kay Beauty MATTEinee Lip Crayon in Billboard :-


The Kay Beauty MATTEinee Lip Crayon comes in a retractable crayon-like case. It applies very smoothly and is a peachy beige shade called ‘Billboard’, which also happens to be the shade that Katrina wore at the recent Vogue Women Of The Year Awards 2019. It is priced at Rs 799.

Kay Beauty Matte Action Lip Pencil in Dance Off :-


The Kay Beauty Matte Action Lip Pencil is a sharpen-able lip liner in a rich crimson shade called ‘Dance Off’. It has a soft formula that also applies easily on the lips. It is priced at Rs 550.

Kay Beauty MaeStrobe Lip Topper in Starlet :-


The Kay Beauty MaeStrobe Lip Topper is the most unique pick from the lip offerings in the collection. The shade called ‘Starlet’ is a high shimmer gold liquid that can be worn over a lip product to add a bit of shine. It is priced at Rs 699.

Kay Beauty High Drama Smokey Kajal in Raven Hue :-


The Kay Beauty High Drama Smokey Kajal is a dual sided eye pencil. On one end, there’s a jet black eyeliner pencil that feels almost buttery when applying. On the other is a smudger brush that can be used to blend the kajal and create an easy smokey eye makeup look. It is priced at Rs 599.

Apart from the product collection, Kay Beauty also launched an ad film with the message #ItsKayToBeYou, which is written by Zoya Akhtar. Katrina said, “It is courageous of a brand like Nykaa to launch Kay Beauty and not feature a makeup product in their ad film. It is probably one of the few times this has ever been done and takes a great amount of belief, passion and forward thinking to green light a project like that.
